The story
Biography
Danny Veras was born in Natal, Brazil, on 1 May 1977, to a Spanish mother and a Brazilian father. He moved to Europe as a child and grew up in France, and his dream of becoming a rock singer began the first time he heard Elvis Presley, on a tape his sister gave him. She also opened his ears to classical music.
At 11 he moved to Barcelona, where he taught himself guitar and formed his first band a year later. At 15 he moved to the Costa Brava and founded The Griffters, an American-style hard rock band, with Victor Conde on drums, Joan Casanovas on guitar and Xavi on bass. In 1993 they recorded a six-song demo on a four-track recorder. Paranoia followed in 1994, and later Rewire. Iron Maiden, Helloween, Judas Priest and AC/DC were shaping his sound, and his travels also took him to Switzerland.
In 2003, after strict new noise laws shut down much of Spain's live music scene, Danny moved to Hollywood. He became the singer of the Simi Valley progressive metal band 7 Months and recorded the acclaimed album In Time (2009). When vocal-cord problems forced a change, he joined L.A. Holeshot in 2006 and rebuilt his voice with a new style.
Since 2012 he has worked with legendary producer and songwriter Paul Sabu. Together they made Never Give Up (2014), Under the Influence (2018) and Can't Stop the Rock (2025), whose title track Danny co-wrote with the late Quiet Riot drummer Frankie Banali.
As Danny Joe Veras, he has released more than twenty albums since 2003, most recently Unplugged and the bilingual singles "Engine 45" and "Rebel Heart, Your Radio Show". Based in South Florida, he performs regularly at venues, hotels and private events.
